Condolence: I'm so sad to hear this. God Bless Bernie and his Family. I knew him many years and he was a special guy. He was one of the top educators at SJU. :(

Condolence From: Greg Bordelon
Condolence: I only had occasion to meet Bernie when he joined his students in Dec. 2015 at a mock trial tournament that my school hosted. Even when he was not feeling well, his passion for mock trial, his commitment to the skills it teaches and most importantly, his faith in his students was clearly visible. He was a model for all young academics to remember why we work at a university.

Condolence From: Jackie Cavalla
Condolence: I'm proud to have had Bernie as a friend. As part of our office "family", we'll all miss his gentle heart and valiant spirit.
When Bernie would contribute for the Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast, he'd tell me not to put his name (as a sponsor) on the place mat at upper right, where it would be hidden by the coffee cup. I'd joke with him that I'm lefty, so I put my cup on the other side.

Bernie, no one will EVER hide your name!

My prayers and love go out to Linda and the family.

Condolence From: Andy Simons
Condolence: It has been a privilege for me to have known Bernie, first as a 1L Torts student, then as an alumnus of the law school, and finally as a colleague on the faculty of St. John's University. His dedication to his trial advocacy undergraduate students is legendary, and his legacy will keep his memory alive within the St. John's community. Ave atque vale, friend!
