Condolence From: Det. Albert Bonilla
Condolence: To my dear NYPD Brother Richie,

I met you when I became a INTAC Instructor in July of 2001. We got to really know each other through teaching the new WMD COBRA course training to the new recruits and to the other officers already on the department. You and I and Pete had a crazy wonderful time training in Alabama’s COBRA Homeland Security course. You were one of the rarest and most dedicated Police Academy Instructors I have had the most honor and privilege of working with. Years later, you got sick with illness and I was given the special honor in picking you up at your home to drive you to Lefrack and the 50th Precinct Medical District. Now, you are with the Good Lord Jesus in eternal peace in heaven. I am so sorry I couldn’t make it to your wake because of rain and traffic, but today I truly honor your life and dedication to the NYPD! You are True Blue and my life is much more better that I met you. Take Care my Brother and we’ll see each other in the very far future in eternity.

Condolence: My deepest & heartfelt condolences to the Mendez family. Richie was my instructor during 9/11 & became a treasured friend. He always taught us with laughter & sarcasm during rough times. Throughout the years, we stayed in touch & he always remained a gentleman, a friend and a good person. May God bless and guide you into heaven where your smile will continue to shine.
